Funchal has everything you expect from a modern capital. The cosmopolitan main city of Madeira awaits you with a buzzing atmosphere and vibrant life in it's many bars, cafes and restaurants. For explorations, take the cable car up to Monte and the Palace Gardens, from where you can descend in a spectacular way on a traditional wicker basket sledge.
To relax, the Fajã dos Padres awaits you just outside Funchal. Take the breath-taking cable car ride down the cliff to the small organic farm, where you can relax by the sea and enjoy the fresh produce from the farm.
