Just 30 minutes from Lisbon, Guincho Beach near Cascais is a surfer’s paradise. With reliable waves and stunning dunes, it’s perfect for surfers of all levels. Beginners can join local surf schools for lessons and board rentals, while experienced surfers can take on the bigger swells further out. After surfing, relax with a cold drink at one of the beachside cafes, enjoying views of the Atlantic. Whether you are riding the waves or soaking in the scenery, Guincho is a must-visit destination for outdoor enthusiasts.


2. Hiking in Sintra-Cascais Natural Park

Sintra-Cascais Natural Park covers an area of approx. 145 square kilometers with a diverse range of landscapes, including rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, dense forests, and rolling hills. One of the park's most iconic landmarks is the Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, where you can experience the raw beauty of nature and stunning views of the ocean. For a moderate hike, try the 6-kilometer-long Cabo da Roca Trail; it offers incredible views of rugged cliffs and wildflower-filled meadows. Next to Cabo da Roca is Praia da Ursa beach. As it takes some effort to reach it (you have to follow a trail that goes down a cliff), it’s still wild and unspoiled and often deserted… A real gem!

TIP! Combine a trip to the Sado Estuary with a visit to Arrábida Natural Park. The park is characterized by its rugged limestone cliffs, crystal-clear turquoise waters, pristine sandy beaches, and secluded coves.

Its landscape is marked by the Serra da Arrábida mountain range, which rises abruptly from the sea. The mountains are covered with dense Mediterranean vegetation, including cork oak and pine forests. You will find excellent hiking opportunities, while snorkeling and diving allow you to explore the park's marine ecosystems and enjoy its crystal-clear waters. Real adventures can try coasteering, an exciting activity of cliff jumping and swimming.
